Hosting
We equip all of our clients with hosting on our own dedicated server (no, the server is not in some kid’s bedroom; it’s in a datacenter in Pennsylvannia). We specialize in hosting primarily websites of interest to a specific locale. We do not host websites with over 10,000 daily pageviews a day. This allows for optimum up time and hosting performance.
Why Dedicated Hosting Matters
Take for example, WatervlietTownship.org that is “hosted” by Genesis Web Design. A report from Website Outlook shows that this website is hosted on a shared hosting account with GoDaddy, alongside many spam websites:
This means that the Watervliet Township website has to share bandwidth with all of the other websites in the list and who knows how many more. It also means that the chances of the server going down because of too much traffic are increased; there’s less of a guarantee that your website will be up at any time.
Experience and Knowledge
Having a dedicated server demonstrates our ability to actually design websites that can take advantage of capabilites that many other websites can’t. Additionally, this demonstrates our knowledge as IT administrators.
Anyone can design a website that’s made purely of graphics and requires no database functionality whatsoever just by checking out an introductory website development book at a local library. What we offer is websites that are database driven, load fast, have aesthetic appeal, and are optimized for search engines. We design websites that are driven by what happens behind the scenes: server scripting, web server tailoring, and loading optimization. These are all services that can only best be accomodated by dedicated hosting space, something we’ve provide for all of our clients.
